The Ateliers du Violoncelle are organised since 2020 by the Compagnie de l'Imprévu, directed by Vincent Courtois and Emmanuelle Hertmann
The Ateliers are co-produced with the Atelier du Plateau in Paris and every year they gather an artistic college to think together and conduct the chosen projects.
The artistic college
The artistic college of the Ateliers du Violoncelle is made of experienced cellists for whom transmitting of knowledge and mentoring are integral to their concerns. Each year they are called upon to choose a patron for the upcoming edition, select the eight interns, assist the two former interns in composing and interpreting the commissioned piece in close collaboration with its composer. The choice of contributors for our masterclasses is discussed within the college according to the candidates' projects. The concert program is built in association with Matthieu Malgrange, director of the Atelier du Plateau which is co-producting the event.
Always reflecting, the artistic college strives to address in the best way possible to the professional integration challenges faced by young cellists as they transition from studies to professional life. Each of its members provides support and advice the interns through regular contact well beyond their week-long residency.
Masterclasses coordination
Laetitia Zaepffel
Associated with the Atelier du Plateau since its creation in 1999, Laetitia Zaeppfel is the link between the to Ateliers. She handles the coordination of interns during the residency week.

On site during the residency week at the Atelier du Plateau, Florentina Postaru photographs and publishes on social media the masterclasses and concert as a whole, providing real-time coverage of the event.

les écritures singulières et nouvelles, les formes croisées et peu éprouvées.
Ce sont des salles à jauge réduite permettant une proximité, une immersion dans le son et une qualité d’écoute, créant ainsi un rapport d’intimité privilégié et unique.

The Atelier du Plateau is a room with reduced capacity allowing for proximity, sound immersion and quality listening, thus creating a privileged, unique and intimate impression.
