Our Bows

Often overshadowed by the cello, a bow is nevertheless the extension of the performer's arm, the key to their expressiveness.
To raise the interns' awareness of the importance of this object, its choice, its maintenance and the relationship with its craftsman, we offer them the opportunity to have a bow trial session at the CLAC, in the presence of bow makers.
It is also from the CLAC that the artistic college chooses each year a bow that we acquire, thus actively supporting contemporary bow-making.
This bow joins the collection of the Ateliers du Violoncelle, which is accessible to former interns in need of a high-quality bow to support their growth as a young artist.

The CLAC

The Collectif de Lutherie et d’Archèterie Contemporaine is composed of violin and bow makers sharing a common vision of their art based on a requirement of quality. Within their Gallery of contemporary instruments and bows, in the XIth arrondissement of Paris, they are keen to accompany musicians in their sound researches.
